The bar chart illustrates the number of people who visited six different art galleries around the world in the year 2011.
Overall, it is clear that the Louvre in France was by far the most popular art gallery, attracting the highest number of visitors. Additionally, the museums can be divided into two distinct groups based on their attendance figures: the top three with around 6 million or more visitors, and the bottom three with approximately 3 million or fewer.
Looking at the higher tier, the Louvre recorded the highest figure, with nearly 9 million visitors in 2011. The Metropolitan Museum in the USA followed as the second most visited gallery, reaching exactly 6 million people. This was slightly higher than the British Museum in the UK, which received around 5.8 million visitors.
In contrast, the remaining three galleries saw significantly fewer guests. The National Museum of Korea welcomed just over 3 million visitors. Meanwhile, the figures for the Museo del Prado in Spain and the State Hermitage in Russia were even lower, standing at approximately 2.9 million and 2.7 million visitors respectively.
