Overall, it is apparent that for most of the reviewed sports, the number of male spectators was greater than the number of male participants, with fishing is the only notable exception, In addition, football and horse riding and racing drew the highest number of viewers, while it was fishing that got the most participants.
Regarding the two most watched sports, football and horse riding and racing recorded the highest figures, with both peaking at 45%. By contrast, the percentages for those who played were far lower, as only 10% for football and just 18% engaged in horse riding and racing.
As for the remaining activities, rugby, basketball and badminton were watched by nearly 30%, 38% and 28% of males respectively, each of them all surpassing the engagement of those taking part , which stood between 20% to 25%. The sole exception to this pattern was fishing , which exhibited a contrasting trend, the fraction of participants was outnumbered viewers, accounting for 50% compared to just 15% for the latter.
