Overall, the percentage of individuals who recycled their trash in the UK and the USA represented the highest figures and increased remarkably throughout the given period, while the opposite trend was exhibited in Japan and Singapore, where the figures declined substantially. Of particular note is Germany, which remained relatively stable and shared the lowest trend during the whole period.
In 1992, the proportion of citizens recycling their rubbish in the UK accounted for about 26% before rising dramatically to around 31%. A similar pattern was shown in the USA, starting at approximately 17%, after which it increased to just under 20% by 2004.
In contrast, recycling level among societies in Japan and Singapore decreased during given period. The figures for Japan and Singapore were roughly 11% and 6% in 1992, which then dropped to around 8% and 5% in 2004, respectively. Interestingly, the trend in Germany remained steady at merely 5% through the given period.
