The line graph below gives information on the proportions of energy generated from coal across four distinct European countries, spanning from 1995 to 2010.
Overall, the majority of countries experienced a consistent downward trend, with Germany showing the most significant changes. Sweden and France demonstrated similar trajectories over the 15-year period.
For Sweden and France, both proportions fell slightly. Sweden started at approximately 35% and after remaining stagnant during the period from 1998 to 2001, it dipped to about 28% in 2015. France’s percentage commenced with 30% and ended up at nearly 24% by the end of the timeframe.
Regarding Germany and Denmark, both figures exhibited a clear decrease over the period. Denmark, which started at the highest percentage of 60%, fell steadily to 25% in 2004, remaining stable until 2007, and finally dropped to the lowest 10%. Germany dipped from its starting 55% to a mere 5% in 2007, then rising sharply to about 18% by 2015.
