The line graph illustrates the changes in the percentage of three different activities – swimming, team sports, and gym activities – in the UK over a 20-year period, from 1995 to 2015.
Overall, swimming experienced a significant decline in percentage, while gym activities saw a considerable increase. Although both gym activities and swimming percentages fluctuated, team sports maintained their dominance, despite a slight change at the end of the period.
In fact, swimming attracted a large number of individuals compared to the other activities at the beginning of the period in 1995, with about 50% of participants involved. This figure steadily decreased by 2010, with approximately 15% of participants still engaged. Additionally, it remained stable at this percentage until 2015.
In contrast, the number of members participating in gym activities was initially the lowest, at around 5%. However, it consistently skyrocketed by 2010, reaching nearly 30%, and remained relatively stable until 2015.
As for team sports, it started in second place with nearly 34% of participants. This figure began to rise slightly in 2000, peaking at 40% in 2010. Eventually, it returned to its original percentage in 2015.
