The given table show the data about five major types of fast food eaten in Melbourne (Hambuger, Fried Chicken, Salad, Fried Rice, Noodles) in 2005, the present, and the predicted figures for 2025. The data is measured in units.
From an overall perspective, it is readily clear that hamburgers and fried chicken were the most popular fast foods throughout the period. Salad experienced the most significant growth and is expected to become almost as popular as fried chicken by 2025. In contrast, fried rice and noodles remained the least commonly eaten foods, with only slight increases.
In 2005, hamburgers were the most popular fast food, with 40 units. Fried chicken came second at 35 units. In contrast, only 5 units of salad were eaten, making it the least popular food. Fried rice and noodles had the same figure, at 6 units each, which was much lower than hamburgers and fried chicken.
At present, the number of hamburgers eaten falls a little from 40 to 38 units, while fried chicken increases slightly to 37 units. Salad also becomes more popular, rising three times from 5 to 15 units. Looking at the prediction for 2025, hamburger consumption is expected to increase significantly to 51 units, remaining the highest figure. Fried chicken will also grow to 45 units. Salad is predicted to rise sharply to 41 units, becoming the third most popular type of fast food. By comparison, fried rice and noodles are expected to reach only 9 units each, showing very small changes during the whole period.
