The first line graph illustrates the amount of steel produced and its demand in 2010. It is expressed in million tonnes. While the second graph represents how many employees were working in steel industry in the UK.
Overall, it is clear that there was a downward trend noted in the amount of steel produced and the number of employees in the steel industry over the given period.
It is evident that the proportion of steel manufactured in January was 4000 million tonnes, and this rose to 5000 million tonnes between January and April. However, it remained constant from April to August, at about 4000 million tonnes. Following that, in August, there was a fall of about 3000 million tonnes and increased to 5000 million tonnes in September. There was a gradual decline from 5000 million tonnes to 900 million tonnes in December. The actual demand ranged nearly between 2000 million tonnes and 3000 million tonnes, with constant variation. Although the demand plummeted to 0 in November, it climbed to 2000 million tonnes in the last month.
The data show that 5 million employees were working in the steel industry at the beginning of the year. Despite showing a slight increase to 5.5 million workers, the number of workers reached 1 million in December.
