The chart examines the eating of three varieties of fast food in Britain over a twenty year period from 1970 to 1990.
Overall, what stands out from the graph is that there were considerable upward trends in the consumption of both fish & chips and hamburger, while the eating of pizza saw a considerable fall over the period. Another interesting point is that pizza was the most popular fast food in 1970, but in 1990, fish & chips were eaten more than the others.
Looking at the details, as regards fish & chips, consumption started at about 100 in 1970, then there was a sharp growth over the two decades up to 500 in 1990. If we look at hamburger, the trend was similar. Having remained an increase at approximately 50 in 1970, income then rose sharply, reaching 300 at the end of the period.
By contrast, the consumption of pizza went in the opposite direction. Consumptions decreased to 300 until 1985. After that there was a small rise about 205 in 1990.
