The line graph illustrates the consumption of three types of fast food (hamburgers, fish and chips, and pizza) in grams, between 1970 and 1990.
Overall, the consumption of fast food increased during the period, except for pizza which showed a decline. While pizza was the most popular in 1970, fish and chips experienced a dramatic rise and became the most consumed fast food by 1990, followed by hamburgers.
In 1970, pizza was the leading fast food with about 300 grams, while hamburgers and fish and chips were much less popular, at just under 50 and 100 grams respectively. Over the following years, pizza consumption gradually fell to just over 200 grams in the mid-1980s before leveling off.
By contrast, both hamburgers and fish and chips gained popularity. The consumption of hamburgers rose steadily, with particularly sharp growth after 1980, reaching around 300 grams by 1990. Fish and chips showed the most dramatic increase, climbing slowly until 1980 and then rising rapidly to nearly 500 grams in 1990, overtaking both other foods.
