The line chart illustrates the percentage of national arts funding distributed among the five sectors in the UK, for the period of 2000 to 2020. It can be seen clearly that all the categories had downnward trend except for theatre and Visual arts. By 2020 theatre and dance had the biggest proportion, while literature was the least.
In 2000, museums were receiving the largest percentage of funding, almost 35%, but this figure had a consistent downward trend. Theatre and dance stood at the second highest position initially, approximately 25%, however it went up and overtook the museums in 2010 and by 2010 most amount of funds were given to this category. Literature had a consistent decline and by the end it was less than 10%, moreover the same pattern was followed by music with a gradual increase in 2010 only.
Visual arts in the begining were the lowest categorey for funding, below 10% and remained unchanged for the next decade, after 2005 it had considerable change, over took music and converge at around 15%.
