Overall, the number of international visitors in France and Spain experienced significant growth over the years, while tourists in Japan showed fell steadily in their number.
Initially, Japan had 40 million of international tourists in 1990, which a decade later, rose slightly and gradually decreased to approximately 30 million by 2020. In contrast, France started with 45 million visitors in 1990, steadily increased to 60 million by 2005, and surged to more than 80 million by 2020, marking the highest number of overseas visitors among the three countries.
Turning to Spain, the trend is similar to France, overall, there was a upward trend over the period. However, Spain begun with nearly 30 million visitors in 1990, then climbed to roughly 75 million by 2020.
