The line charts illustrate the amounts of acid rain from four specific factors from 1990 to 2007.
Overall, it is evident that the volumes of acid rain from Transport and Communication mostly remained unchanged, while the remaining sectors exhibited downward trends, and that from Electricity, Gas, and Water supplies witnessed the most dramatic decline. Moreover, that from Domestic was always the lowest during this period. The unit was measured in million tonnes.
In more detail, in 1991, roughly 3.5 million tonnes were emitted from Electricity, Gas, and Water, compared to about 2 and 0.5 million tonnes in the figures for Other industries and Domestic, respectively. By 2007, the figure for Electricity, Gas, and Water decreased significantly to only 0.5 million tonnes. Similarly, the levels of acid rain emitted from Industries and Domestic experienced a gradual fall to 1.25 and 0.25 million tonnes in the final year.
In contrast, the figure for Transport and Communication remained stable at around 0.6 million tonnes, despite increasing to 1 million tonnes in 2005.
