The line graph compares five activities (film club, martial arts, amateur dramatics, table tennis, and musical performances) regarding their number of participants at one social center in Melbourne, Australia, from 2000 to 2020.
Overall, despite their respective increase and decline, participants showed the strongest willingness to join the film club, remaining the highest throughout the period. Indoor activities (table tennis, musical performance) both indicated sharp surges in the number of participants, while amateur dramatics plummeted rapidly over the past 20 years.
Initially, with approximately 64 people engaged in the film club in 2000, the film club ranking the highest among the activities, followed by martial arts (37) and amateur dramatics (26). Surprisingly, even undergoing a 20-year fluctuation with a nadir of 60, it still stood at the top by 2020 (67). However, the figure for martial arts fluctuated between 31 and 37, showing no clear trend, nealy identical to the initial value (37).
It is noticeable that although the initial statistics for table tennis was relatively lower (17) than that for amater dramatics (26), it witnessed a gradual increase from 17 to 20, plateaued until 2010, then surged further to 52 by 2020, claiming the second among the five clubs. Meanwhile, the number of amateur dramatics gradually rose to a peak of 29 before declining to 6, far lower than its original figure, while the figure for musical performances saw a significant growth to 19, albeit with a 5-year stagnation.
