The line graph illustrates the number of visitors to five attractions in the city of Parkvale between 1996 and 2016. The attractions include the State Zoo, National Gallery, Indigenous Art Centre, Museum, and Aquarium.
Overall, almost all attractions experienced fluctuations over the period. However, the Museum remained relatively stable throughout, while the National Gallery recorded the most dramatic growth and became the most popular attraction by the end of the period.
At the beginning, both the National Gallery and the Indigenous Art Centre showed an increasing trend from 1996 to 2004. However, the National Gallery experienced a much sharper rise, reaching around 900 thousand visitors in 2004, whereas the Indigenous Art Centre increased more gradually. After 2004, both attractions saw a decline. Nevertheless, the National Gallery recovered from 2008 onwards and continued to rise until 2016. In contrast, the Indigenous Art Centre continued to decline until 2012 before recovering slightly in the final four years.
The Aquarium and the State Zoo both showed downward trends over the period. The Aquarium experienced a sharp decline between 1996 and 2000 and then continued to decrease gradually until 2016. Similarly, visitor numbers to the State Zoo also fell steadily throughout the period. In comparison, the Museum remained relatively stable, with only slight fluctuations between approximately 450 and 500 thousand visitors.
Overall, the National Gallery experienced the greatest increase in visitor numbers, while the Museum maintained a stable trend. By contrast, both the Aquarium and the State Zoo recorded continuous declines over the 20-year period.
