The graph below illustrates the smoking rates of men and women per 1000 people in Someland between 1960 and 2000.
Overall, the rates gone down for males and gone up for females with gap between both rates becoming closer and almost reaching same level in 2000.
In 1960 almost 600 men per 1000 people smoked a cigarette, but after that the numbers have steadily decreased each year. By 2000, around 250 men smoked cigarettes per 1000 people.
On the other hand, in 1960 just below 100 women used to smoke. This figure steadily rose until 1975, where it reached its peak, reaching around 300. Then it fell down steadily until 2000.
Between 1970 and 1975, there was a dramatic increase for womens, jumping from around 200 to around 300. However, it can be seen that the men smoke more than women in general with their numbers always being higher than womens.
