Overall, it is noticeable that the rate of smoking among men experienced a slight decrease, whereas the nubers of females who smoke increased rapidly, eventually reaching the same level as men.
In 1960, the rate of smoke for men was around 600 smokings per 1,000 people. This figure continued to decline significantly, falling to approximately 30% of its original level over the period, from 1960 to 2000.
In contrast, the number of females who smoke started at a much lower number than the males, at about 100 per 1,000 people in 1960, rates began to rise in that year. By 1970 the number had stabilized at around 200, but then in 1975 the rate was increased slightly reached 300. However, started by 1975 to 2000 the number had fall down at about 200 per 1000 people.
