The line graph shows the amount of smokers in someland in a period of 40 years, starting from year 1960 to year 2000. Overall, the rate of men smoking in someland declined whereas the rate of women smoking rose and then dropped.

In 1960, 600 out of 1000 men smoked. This was far higher than women, which only out of ten of their population smoked. However, the rate of men omoking gradually declined over the 40-year duration, to just above 200 people a year.

On the other hand, the rate of women smoking increased from 1960 to 1965, It then levelled off from 1965 to 1970, followed by a brief rise to 300 people a year in 1975. At the same time, almost half of the male population smoked. The amount of female smokers remained constant from 1975 to 1980. Beyond that, the rate decreased for 20 years to 200 people, just below the male smokers population
