The chart illustrates the changes in smartphone possession among 4 age groups, measured in percentages, in Moscow from 2008 to 2019.
Overall, all figures experienced a upward trend, while 19-29 years old people were the most smartphone users for the most of the period. Nobody adopted a smartphone from other age groups until 2011.
In 2008, the percentage of 19-29 cohort was at just above 0%, compared with 0% for others. This figure continued to increase gradually until 2010, before staying almost at 15% until 2015. Afterwards, the proportion of 19-29 years old people increased dramatically from around 15% to above 75% in one year. It then continued upward trend, finishing the period at almost 100%.
The proportion of 30-39 years old people stood at zero until 2011 before slightly growing to approximately 15%. This figure continued fluctuating at one level, before starting a significant upward trend in 2014. Ultimately, the figure for 30-39 cohort reached a roughly 80%.
In contrast to other groups of people, the percentages of 40+ and 13-18 years old individuals rose from zero only in 2012. 13-18 cohort experienced a considerable rise to above 75% by 2019, while the figure for 40+ years old people rose slightly reaching around 30%.
