The line charts bellow illustrates the quantities of different kinds of crimes in england and Wales from 1970 to 2005. It’s clear that the number of street robbery was always the smallest and all of those cases showed an generally increasing trend.
In 1970, 0.4 million car theft events were committed, which was doubled the number of house burgling. Meanwhile, street robbery accounted for the lowest figure at around 0.1 million in 1970. After that, house burgling saw a significant upward trend and reached its peak at approximately 0.9 million, which was the highest at the time, followed by car stolen at 0.8 million, which also rase steadily, which was obviously higher than robbery in street, with the figure at below 0.2 million.
During the remaining years, the reported crimes about stealing cars kept going up and peaked at 1.6 million in 1995, but then decreased quickly and finally dropped to 1 million in 2005. In addition, the similar situation can also be observed on crimes about house, which went up slightly and then fall to about 0.5 million, which was merely higher than street robbery, which increased slowly and finally stayed at 0.4 million in 2005.
