The line graph illustrates three separate groups of crimes that were committed in England and Wales between 1970 and 2000.
Overall, the number of car theft was consistently the highest over the period shown. In contrast, the number of street robbery was the lowest over the same period.
Looking at the first data in more detail, it is evident that the number of cars which were stolen stood at 0.40 million in 1970. By 1990, this figure had risen steadily to just 1 million. Then, it increased exponentially to 1.60 million. Finally, car theft crime decreasd to 1 million at the end of the period.
Turning to the remaining two crimes, it can clearly be seen that 0.20 million of houses were burgled in 1970. This number increased to 0.60 million, and then remained unchanged until 1985. After that, by 2005, it had fallen to around 0.50 million in 2005. Additionally, the number of street robbery was rising from 0 miilion to 0.20 million over a 35-year period.
