The line graph gives an account of how three kinds of crime, namely car theft, house burglary and rubbery changed over three decades, from 1970 to 2005 in England and Wales.
Overall, it’s clear that the number of crimes committed has increased. While the number of street robberies remained virtually unchanged, the other two crime types saw a relative increase.
Focusing on the figures for car theft, the trend for car theft initially saw a rise about 0.4 millions within a decade from it’s starting point of just above 0.4 millions in 1970. Later, the cases rose slightly to around a million in 1990, then in five years it increased sharply and reached its peak at 1.6 millions. In addition for the rest of the period, it illustrated a drop to a million.
Figure of street rubbery remained unchanged during two decades from the start of the period at 0 millions. In the beginning of 1990, however it started increasing and reached 0.2 millions at the and of the period. Initially, the amount of house burglary showed sharp increase to 0.6 millions over a decade and stayed still for five years. After that it increased slightly by 0.1 millions from 1985 to 1995. At the end of the period, however, it declined and illustrated approximately 0.3 millions.
