The provided two maps showcase the transformation of an American town, by depicting how it appeared in 1954 and 2014.
Overall, it is immediately apparent from the maps that there were considerable changes and the town went from industrial to commercial. The most important changes are that instead of factories, a new airport was built in the north-west side of the town, and there are lots of new commercial buildings. The majority of residential houses and petrol station stayed at their initial locations.
To begin, one of the most striking changes is that in 2014 there are seven new commercial buildings placed in the west, centre and east sides of the town in order to develop the retail and entertainment sector and provide additional jobs to local people. Three of them located between the airport and supermarket, where in 1954 there was a big park next to the old factories. The remaining two are in the centre of the town, where earlier in 1954 were six residential houses.
Next, in 2014 there are only eleven houses left in the town and they all stayed at their initial locations, just like petrol station, which is near the road to make it convenient for drivers to refuel the car. By the way all roads and trees around them stayed untouched, however the supermarket was replaced from south-west side where later two commercial buildings were built. Another interesting thing is that in 2014 there is a stadium, but 60 years ago there was a little church.
