The two maps compare the expansion which Ryemouth village undergone from 1995 to the present day. Overall, the area experienced major developments in various sectors including accommodation, leisure facilities and the like. Number of dwellings slightly increased at the north-western end of the map and the fish area repurposed for housing. Green spaces in the north-eastern corner were replaced by functionating sports zone. In the course of city redevelopment, structures including car park and fishing port were demolished, while some buildings remained unchanged.
Back to 1995 layout, residential structures comprising of overall 8 were located, which were divided into 3 and 5 by a vehicle track passing between them. Beneath that unit of houses, there was separated quaternary unit of accommodation. Urban vegetation consisting of arable land and woodland were arranged at the right top corner of the map. Looking at the bottom part, shop and fish market could be observed at the south-western side, with the latter positioned adjacent to the seawater flow. There was a fishing harbour with 2 pairs of ferries at both sides. Additionally, café was based at south-eastern part, along with hotel.
By the present day, the place witnessed quite a lot alterations. In total the number of residential structures marginally rose, reaching overall 10 at the top area and 4 below. North-western side changed its prior plantation function into recreational facilities such as golf and tennis court.
Regarding the lower plan, restaurant took the position of preliminary shopping zone, while flats – fish markets. The hotel was complemented with parking side, while just unaltered. Of particular note is that the harbour of fishing industry decommissioned, suspending its operations.
