The two maps provide information about the development of the town of Frenton between 1990 and 2012.
Overall, it can be seen that there was a significant transformation over the 20-year period, like replacing natural and public areas, improving residential and recreational development. The town underwent urbanisation.
Firstly, in 1990 the western location of High Street featured a school, a hospital, a bank, a library, a zone of trees and playing fields. The eastern side of the street had houses, a theatre, shops and a large cafe with a park.
Secondly , by 2012, many of these facilities had been modified. The playing fields and houses were replaced by blocks of flats. The bank was converted into a restaurant, also the theatre was turned into a cinema.
A technopark was built instead of the trees, and the shops were converted into a supermarket. In the north-eastern area, which was previously empty, a new apartment was constructed. The hospital was expanded, and the library remained unchanged.
