The maps show the developments that have taken place in Lakeside area over a period of 9 years between 2000 to 2009.
It is clear that the area underwent a dramatic transformation over the period, becoming noticeably less green and more built up.
The only places that remained the same were the residential area and the school. The other residential area located in the west of Woodland was demolished for the expansion of the industrial complex during 2009. The trees around Woodland were also cut down for this development, resulting in significant changes such as deforestation and degradation. The area become less green and the lake was turned into pond with smaller debit of water. Likewise, the residential area located around the river was converted into shopping centre. The area had lesser residential area in 2009.
Meanwhile, to the north of the shopping centre, was a multi-screen cinema that was used to be an arts centre. In the northern part of the area, were derelict warehouses and old town in 2000, but in 2009 they were transformed into car park and offices. Next to the offices, there was a newly-built university that can be accessed by crossing the pond in woodland.
