The maps illustrate some changes to Lakeside over the period of 2 years between 2000 and 2009.
Overall, Lakeside experienced considerable changes during the period shown. The most noticeable differences betweenthe 2maps are the expansion of the Industrial complex, and the disappearance of the Residential area.
As can be seen from the map, the residential area in the Northwest corner of Lakeside remained unchanged until 2009. Nevertheless, the Derelict warehouse and the Old Town were demolished to make way for the car park and the offices, while the multi-screen cinema and shopping centre were built to replace the art centre and residential estate. Meanwhile, the school was slightly relocated closer to the Lake.
Turning to other features, we can see that the Woodland became remarkably smaller and the pond occurred at the location of the original Lake in 2009. At the same time, the Residential space in the Northeast of the Lakeside completely disappeared in 2009,while the Industrial complex witnessed a significant expansion.
