The provided maps illustrate how Lakeside shifted over a 10-year period from 2000 to 2009.
As can be apparently seen from the map, there were several noticeable modifications in Lakeside, especially the expansion of the industrial complex by the end of the period. Remarkably, the residential area located in the top left corner of the map remained unchanged while others were demolished for different purposes.
On the left side of the river, the derelict warehouses in the north of the map were damaged and replaced by a car park in 2009. The old town situated directly below these warehouses experienced the same in order for new triangle-shaped offices to be built. Over the decade, the education facilities of Lakeside were enhanced with an increase in the number of schools and the appearance of a university. Additionally, the residential area next to the river was converted into a shopping centre to satisfy the rising purchasing demands of the local people.
After the 10-year period, it can be clearly witnessed that the only residential area located on the right side of the river disappeared and then this area was used to build an industrial site. With the making space by the residential region and the shrinking of Woodland, the industrial complex was extended to approximately three times compared to its original area in 2000. Notably, the lake at the end of the river was turned into a pond by the end of the period.
