The two maps illustrate the transformation of the library. Overall, the library underwent a major extension, maintaining a few of its original services, while becoming more diverse and user-friendly. These changes include the introduction of a new door for disabled people, a new sofa, as well as new books.
In 1975, the library used to offer a few facilities. Access to the entrance was from the North , with a room for new books to right of entrance and magazines located in the other side of the entrance. There were book shelves approximately in the middle of a map below which was a study area and librarians’ books are situated in the East side. In the centre of western side , a spacious book shelf occupied bottom left corner whereas children’s books positioned bottom right corner of a map. A toilet was placed between these two sections.
Since then, the library has experienced a considerable change in its layout. While bookshelf, toilet, children’s book, librarians’ books, and entrance remained intact, the magazines were replaced by computers. There are now sofas and new books where bookshelves stood in 1975. The study area has been relocated to east side. Other alterations include the construction of a new door for disabled people, tablets, and self-checking facility has been added.
