In 1995, Ryemouth was primarily focused on fishing, featuring a fishing port located in the south with a fish market nearby. The residential area was situated to the west, which included a few houses and a sport area. Other facilities including hotels and a coffee shop were positioned in the centre, along with a large public park. Besides, farmland was located to the southeast of the village.
At present, the coastal village has experienced noticeable development. The port has been removed and replaced by a yacht, while the fish market has been demolished to make way for the construction of numerous apartments, providing residential infrastructure for tourists. In addition, the sport area has been converted into several restaurants. The residential area has been expanded, with the addition of a number of new houses. In the centre, the public park has been completely cleared, and several holiday homes have been constructed along with a car park. Additionally, the hotels have been upgraded, whereas the nearby cafe has remained unchanged. Furthermore, a golf course and a tennis court have been built on the former farmland, enhancing recreational facilities.
