The maps demonstrate the transformation of a beachfront area in Australia over a 44-year period, spanning from 1950 to 2024.
In 1950, as the first map depicts, there was a playground in the northwest part of the layout, which was located near a driveway that was connected with a car park. In the bottom part of the map, the beach occupied most of the area. Meanwhile, there were two pools with a length of 25 meters, one was to the west of the beach, other was to the east of the pool where a lighthouse was just beside it.
From the second map, we can see that the most striking alteration is to the reconstruction and addition of the beach side. The pool to the west of the beach is enlarged to 50 metres long. Two new structures, a restaurant and surf club, are established adjacent to the pool. Furthermore, another new surf club is erected to the north of the extended lighthouse. A new car park is built to replace the original playground, and the old driveway is prolonged to the lighthouse.
Overall, it is obvious that the beachfront area witnessed a considerable transformation which brought more entertainment to people currently.
