The pictures illustrate a beachfront area in Australia as it was in 1950 and its current layout. Overall, the area underwent substantial redevelopment, with several facilities being introduced. Notably, the most significant changes include the further extenstion of a main road and an addition of new leisure facilities, specifically, restaurant and also a number of surf clubs.
In 1950, there were limited activities for visitors to do. To begin with, when city resident visits the area from the main road, which connects the area with the city, the first thing to notice would be a playground, where a family can enjoy playing some sand games or activities. Dining tables were located at the eastern side of it, between the playground and a pavilion. Visitor can directly park into the parking lot after slighly turning to the right after these facilities. Near the beach, there was an installation of a huge lighthouse in the eastern side, while two small rectangular pools (25m) were separately positioned.
By now, beachfront area witnessed significant modernization. With the extension of the main road, visitors from the city can go further into the lighthouse by car, while previously you had to visit it only by foot. The playground was removed to make way for a new parking lot. While one of the pools doubled in size (the one in the western side), the other one stood unchanged throughout. Regarding leaisure facilities, surf clubs were introduced to the area, each standing nearby the pool. Additionally, a big restaurant was erected in the western side.
