Overall, the town centre underwent a comprehensive internal reorganization, primarily characterized by the introduction of a large shopping mall and apartment blocks.
These internal redevelopments effectively optimized the space, with several sections being repurposed or rearranged, while some original facilities remained unchanged.
Regarding the northern and central areas, significant alterations can be observed during the period shown. In 1990, the northern part consisted of several small shops, including a newsagent, a grocery store, a bakery and a butcher. However, these facilities were removed and replaced with a large shopping mall, which became the main commercial area of the town centre. The children centre, located next to these shops, remained in the same position throughout the timeframe. In addition, the two banks on Oldfield Street experienced different changes. While one bank was retained, the other was converted into a café, showing a change in the function of this area.
Turning to the remaining parts of the layout, the southern section also witnessed several developments. The residential houses along Green Street were demolished to make way for a large apartment block, which increased the accommodation capacity of the town centre. Another apartment block was newly constructed in the southeast corner, where there was previously an open space. In contrast to these modifications, the park, library and town hall located in the middle of the town centre remained completely intact throughout the period. The road system was also adjusted with more pedestrian areas being introduced to improve accessibility.
