The maps show the main changes which took place in town centre between the year 1990 and today.
Overall, it is clearly that, the town center has undergone significant changes, with notable expansion of pedestrian areas, replacement of houses to apartments and transformation of small local shops with a large shopping mall.
In 1990, newsagents, grocer, backer, butcher, café and children centre was located in the northern side of the town center. Opposite of Green Street, there was a park, library and town hall. Oldfield Street and Green Street were open to vehicles without pedestrian areas. Moreover, there were two bank in the eastern part of the town center.
Today, many local shops have been converted to shopping mall centre which are located in north side of the town. Additionally, transport area has been restricted alongside of shopping mall and children care centre.Two pedestrian areas have been introduced to Oldfield and Green Street. Housing areas has been superseded to apartment blocks. The bank which was located in opposite of town hall has been replaced to a café under the café a new apartment has been built for population. Meanwhile, park, library and town hall have remained largely unchanged.
In conclusion, the town centre has been redeveloped with shopping mall center and increasing of pedestrian zones. The development of apartment blocks are a sign of urbanization which affect to population rising.
