Band 5: The maps below show changes in the Spanish city of Castèllon in recent times. (User-Written IELTS Writing Task 1 Sample)

The two maps shows what happened in the town of Castellan which is located in Spain in the last 24 yaers: from 2000 untill nowadays.

Overall, what stands out from the given maps in 2000, Castellan was industrialized residential city with old market, arboretum and large space, but today it has become most densely developed area with bars and clubs, new train station and shopping centre.

First of all, two areas which have been big improvements are in the north part of the city. For instance, hall of residence was constructed in the free space. The lower side train station was replaced with a police station in the north-west of Castellan. In the north-east areas used to be full of trees, but the trees were chopped down and converted to new shopping centre and train station, also tramline was built that serves as a road connecting two places: university and city centre.

Another change is started with city centre was transformed to bike rental scheme. In recent years road for cars is become pedestrians only. Moreover, south part of the urban town cinema, bars and clubs were built before reaching to port.
