The maps illustrate the changes that have occurred in Castellon, a Spanish city, in 2000 and the present day.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the town became more developed, accessible, commercial and residential with the introduction of new entertaining facilities, transportation systems, new shopping facilities and new blocks of flats.
In the top left corner of the map, a hall of residence has been built to the west of the university, while trees were cut down to make way for a new shopping center to the east of the university. In addition to this, a new train station has been erected over the city center, which has originally been located in the western part of the map, due to the replacement by a police station. A new shop now stands in place of an old market on the left side of the city center. Interestingly, a bike rental scheme has been created in the city center, and a new tramline has been built to make the way for the university. Also, there were several changes on the east side of the town, for example, the highlight of a new transport development is an airport under construction, and a new covered market has been built below it, which has been previously unoccupied.
There have also been changes to the entertainment sector particularly in the southern corners of Castellon. A cinema, bars, and clubs have been constructed alongside the port. A final interesting development has been the replacement of the road for cars by the way for pedestrians.
