The map compare the city of Nelson in 2000 and at present. In brief, a considerable change occured in Nelson as the only forest was replaced with the shipping center, and and various buildings were newly buit.
In detail, a highway divided Nelson into a large northern part and a small southern part. In 2000, there was an university with the forest located in its west in the northmost of the city. A train station was seen in the northwest border and three old markets were just below it. Beside, the city center was just above the highway of the city. As for the southern part, there was only a port.
With reference to Nelson at present, in the north, three buildings are newly built around the university, which are hall of residence, new train station and residential area with tramline connecting to the city center. While the original train station and the forest were removed with the latter replaced with newly-constructed shopping center. Additionally, old markets are merged into a new shop. Moreover, the new bike rental schme is set in the city center and a new covered market is just beside the city center. The Road is renovated to a pedestrian-only pathway, and one new restaurant and a bars and clubs are situated in the southern part of the city with the unchanged port.
