The given maps present how Colwick Arts Centre has developed from 2005 to the present. Overall, the site has seen noticeable changes, with the addition of facilities, relocation of buildings, and the transformation of the unused wasteland into a new outdoor exhibition and performance area.
To begin with, there were some newly constructed buildings, such as the drama studio, and two exhibition areas: one centrally located, the other located in an outdoor area on the southern side. The drama studio is close to the center of the northern edge. The new outdoor exhibition and performance area features a central stage, which is surrounded by planted trees that replaced the former wasteland.
Meanwhile, several original facilities were relocated, divided, or modified. The meeting room was moved to the northwest corner and split into two smaller ones. The two galleries were consolidated into one and moved slightly to the west. The snack bar was replaced by a cafe, and the toilet was shifted to the east and now occupies less space. The original concert hall and cinema, once combined in a single structure, were separated into two distinct buildings and are now situated on the eastern side. Nevertheless, the information desk remains unchanged.
In conclusion, Colwick Arts Centre underwent major reconstruction and modernization. New places for exhibitions and arts were introduced, hence illustrating a more cultural and diverse improvement
to the site.
