The given chart depicts the change of a part of Shalton village through a century. By and large, it is obvious that the area witnessed dramatic changes over the period, with the most noticeable changes being the center area of a part of Shalton village.
In 1910, on the western left side of School Road, there was a house next to a butcher and a school. In the northeast, on the right side of London Road, there was a house and a post office. To the south, next to High Road, there were two houses. In the central area separating the three roads, there was a large house surrounded by trees. On the side facing High Road, there was a house situated between a grocer and a baker.
In 2010, a supermarket was added to the western side of School Road. The house had been replaced by a bank, and the butcher shop had been turned into a parking area. In the northeast area of London Road, four more houses were built opposite the central area. To the south of High Road, two additional houses were added, interspersed with the two existing ones. The central area now had a new entrance from London Road. The baker, the trees, and the large house had been replaced by six houses. The grocer had been converted into a café, and the previous house had been expanded.
