The two maps illustrate the present condition of a town center called Islip and its renovation plan.
The most significant change that will take place in the town center will be the construction of a dual carriageway that forms a loop around the major facilities. Furthermore, the facilities themselves will be more organized than they are currently.
The main road will be reconstructed to serve as a pedestrian pathway from the west to the east intersection of the carriageway. Starting from the west intersection and to the right of the pathway, the rows of eight shops that are present now will remain in the future as well. But, the other eight shops across the pathway will be demolished and a big shopping center will be constructed. There will be a bus station to the east and a car parking area to the west of the newly constructed shopping center.
New housing will be constructed on both sides of the pedestrian pathway beside the eastern intersection. Only the northern housing will have a separate road for its residents that leads to the nearest intersection. The area of the park that is present today will likely shrink when the southern housing is constructed. Other than that, the remaining housing and the school in the southwest region of the town center will remain untouched in the future.
