The maps illustrate the evolution of an urban area called Stanwick between 2000 and 2025.
Overall, the area experienced a significant transformation, with the elimination of a factory, along with the introduction of a hotel and a new shopping centre. Additionally, certain key features such as houses and elementary school remained largely untouched.
In 2000, the northern side of the town was dominated by a factory, situated next to a car park. The High Street crossed the area horizontally, separating the factory and car park from a residential area of houses and a primary school, serving the local community. Additionally, the River Nene crossed the area on the western side, with the open land situated in close proximity.
By 2025, the factory and car park demolished and replaced with a hotel and a shopping centre respectively. The High Street had been pedestrianised, as well as the primary school being expanded and houses remaining unchanged. Lastly, the previous open land gave way to a new car parking zone, including the addition of footbridge facilitating people’s mobility on both banks of the river.
