The given diagram illustrated the transformation of Harton town between 2008 and 2016.
Overall, Harton has undergone a modernization. Woodland and the lake were narrowed for the expansion of the industrial complex and old areas were rebuilt for residents’ daily demands.
Looking at the first map, we can see that a building complex in the west consisting of an arts centre and a school was located next to the residential area. The industrial complex was quite small and situated in the southeast, near the river. There were also two other residential zones, one in the south and other in the northwest part of the town.
In 2016, Harton had been redeveloped with many new construction. The old town and the derelict warehouses were removed and replaced by a university, offices, and a car park. The arts centre was demolishe to make way for a multi-screen cinema, while shopping centre was built nearby. The industrial complex became larger, and the lake was turned into a smaller pond. Although the woodland still existed in the east, its size was reduced to provide space for new building.
