The maps illustrate how the town of Harton changed between 2008 and 2016.
Overall, Harton underwent significant urban redevelopment, with old and derelict areas being replaced by modern facilities such as a university, offices, and entertainment complexes. The town became more developed and urbanized during this period.
In 2008, Harton featured a mix of residential, industrial, and natural areas. To the north, there was a woodland beside a lake, while derelict warehouses and the Old Town occupied the central area. The Arts Centre and a school were situated in the western part, surrounded by residential areas. The industrial complex lay in the southeast near the river, with another residential area located across the river in the southwest.
By 2016, several remarkable transformations had taken place. The derelict warehouses and Old Town were replaced by a university, offices, and a car park, modernizing the central part of the town. The lake in the north had been converted into a smaller pond, while the woodland remained largely unchanged. A multi-screen cinema and a shopping centre were newly constructed west of the school, replacing part of the old residential zone. Meanwhile, the industrial complex and southern residential area remained the same, maintaining some continuity within the town’s layout.
