The two maps illustrate how the town of Lakeside changed between 2000 and 2009.
Generally speaking, the city has significantly transformed, with old town and warehouses being replaced by new facilities over the period in question.
First of all, a huge area which had big improvements is the east of the city. In 2000, a huge area was taken by a woodland, which was located on the eastern side of the city. However, the part of the trees, which were located on the east of the river, were chopped down, along with a residential area and an industrial complex being demolished, so a big new industrial complex was built. The lake in the north-east turned into a small pond, but remained connected to the river.
The residential area located in the western part of the city was rebuilt into the shopping centre. The art center, beside the school, was removed and a multi-screen cinema was constructed. The school was reconstructed closer to the river in the west. An old town and derelict warehouses were removed. On their places a car park was introduced on the north of the city and offices were established in front of it. A university was built behind the school in the north.
