The two maps illustrate the development of the town of Lakeside between the years 2000 and 2009. Overall, the area was significantly modernised, shifting from a primarily residential and natural environment to one with increased commercial and educational infrastructure. Major changes include the construction of a shopping centre, a university, and the expansion of the industrial complex.
In 2000, Lakeside was a largely residential town with limited commercial facilities. There were several residential areas spread across the map, along with a school, an arts centre, and an old town. A lake was situated within a large woodland area in the northeast, while a small industrial complex occupied the southeastern part of the map. Derelict warehouses were found in the northern part, and the arts centre was located to the west of the school.
By 2009, the town had been significantly redeveloped. The derelict warehouses were replaced by a car park, and the old town was replaced by office buildings. The arts centre was demolished to make room for a multi-screen cinema. A large shopping centre was constructed in the west, replacing one of the residential zones. The school area was expanded, and a new university was established beside the reduced lake, which had become a pond. Additionally, the woodland area was partially cleared, and the industrial complex was significantly enlarged.
