The provided three maps highlight the developments in two villages, namely Meadowside and Fonton, that have happened over a period of urbanisation since 1962 until now.
Overall, it can be seen from the series of the maps, upon comparing past and present, that there is a noticeable expansion in both villages, alongside with the introduction of recreational persuits and a wide range of facilities.
With regard to Meadowside village, the village appeared as a limited area with minor infrastructures and facilities in 1962. By contrast in 1985, the development plans succeeded in constructing modern housing sites to the west, which was accompanied by a dedicated leisure complex for the people. In addition, a superstore has been introduced south to the main road, which was also widened in comparison to the basic road in 1962.
Nevertheless, in recent times, Meadowside village has been expanded further beyond its borders in 1985. As presented in the map, a train station, a hotel and a business park have been constructed to the east of Meadowside, which is situated right between the two villages. Consequently, the two villages have almost become one big city as a whole, unlike the two separated villages in 1962.
