The three provided maps illustrate the neighboring areas of Meadowside village and Fonton town developed over time, showing changes in their layout in 1962, 1985 and the present day.
Overall, both of the areas are expanded significantly in each stage, especially Meadowside, which transformed from a small village into a large suburb. Over time, the two locations became physically connected, forming an urban zone with residential, commercial, and transport facilities.
In 1962, the two areas were separated by a large distance and had no direct connection between them. Although there were only small roads in 1962, a major road through Meadowside and a main highway had been built by 1985, linking the village to the town. By 1985, both Meadowside and Fonton had been enlarged. Meadowside, which was previously a small village, had developed with the addition of a housing estate, a leisure complex, and a superstore, while Fonton did not contain any of these facilities, although it remained larger in size than Meadowside.
In the present day, Meadowside village and Fonton town are integrated into a large urban zone, by adding new facilities like a hotel, station and business park in the center of the urban area. The two areas are now fully connected through transport and shared infrastructure. Additionally, Meadowside is labeled as “Meadowside Suburbs” .
