The maps depict the development of Liverton docks from 1980 to the present.
Overall, the docks have undergone significant changes over the years, shifting from an industrial to a residential area. The biggest transformation is from both sides of the bank, most warehouses and cranes were removed and replaced by facilities for tourism and leisure.
Looking at the north side of the bank, in 1980, Liverton docks were mainly used for industrial purposes. Along the northern side, there were several warehouses and cranes, but now they were replaced by an education centre, a sailing club, and a kids’ playground. The river at the center of the map was accommodated by many ships; however, after more than 40 years, they were all cleared, and a new ship museum was constructed. In the east of the river, a bridge and a flood barrier were newly built.
Regarding the south of the map, more residential areas and services have been introduced since 1980. At present, there is a river walk path running along the river bank. Another significant change is the removal of an old crane and the conversion of a warehouse into new apartments. A hotel and a parking lot were also added adjacent to the apartments.
