The maps illustrate how an area changed between 1980 and 2000 following the construction of a hydroelectric power dam.
Overall, the most significant change was the creation of a large lake in the centre and north-east of the area after the dam was built. As a result, several natural and human-made features are reduced , while new facilities connected to electricity generation were added.
In 1980, the area contained a river running from north to south. There were forests in the north-west, mountains in both the north-east and south, and a large area of irrigated farmland in the centre. A village was located to the east of the farmland, while an ancient structure located near the forest. There was also a rare plants and animals area in the west.
By 2000, many changes had taken place in the area. A hydroelectric dam was built across the river in the south, creating a large lake in the north-east. Most of the irrigated farmland disappeared under the water. Electricity power lines were added on both sides of the dam. A fishing area was developed near the lake, and a hotel was built to the east of it. The village remained in the same place, while the mountains in the north-east and south were mostly unchanged. The rare plants and animals area and the ancient structures also stayed in their original locations.
