The two maps show the transformation of a zoo located in Australia since 1960. Overall, the zoo has become more diverse and visitor-friendly with the introduction of a range of new facilities. It is also clear that the majority of the changes occurred on the left and central sides of the zoo, while the right side remained more or less intact.
Focusing on the 1960 plan, access way from the bottom, with a gift shop on the right and a chimpanzee’s cage located above the shop. There was a bird’s cage behind which was a seal show and both were located under the harbour. While,the picnic area was located on the right side of the zoo, the Australian and african animal’s cage were on the right.
Since then, the zoo has experienced significant changes . Initially, the zoo became more accessible with the introduction of a new formal entrance building. Then, ferry terminal were built, connected to an expanded southern gift shop and the newly-built cable car. Meanwhile, the original African animal enclosure was replaced by wild animals, with the former relocated to the center, replacing the birds. Additionally, the chimpanzees section was removed, while the western Australian animals and eastern picnic areas remained unchanged.
