The two maps illustrate how a grange park has changed from 1920 to the present day. Overall, the park has become more upgraded with the introduction of new amenities such as an amphitheater for concerts, a cafe and children’s play area. Furthermore, several facilities–one of rose gardens and two entrances– were not subject to changes.
In 1920, the grange park offered a limited number of its current facilities. The access to the park was mutual from Eldon street and from Arnold avenue, in the middle of which was located the fountain. Next to the fountain, there was a stage for musicians, providing performances for visitors. There were two rose gardens in the north side of the park, adjacent to left-hand corner was some seats. The other one was close to a pond for water plants. In the North-West part of the park was placed another rose garden with some seats. Finally, the glasshouse was present immediate right-hand side of the Eldon street along with several seats.
Since then, the park has undergone significant changes. For example, the previous fountain has gone and its place is rose garden which has surrounded by several seats. Another change was the removal of the stage which was converted into the amphitheater. While access for the park remained intact, the rose garden and the pond were turned into the cafe and playground, becoming more recreational and family-oriented. Top left hand rose garden remained untouched while seats were removed. The glasshouse is now water feature. The final change includes the addiction of an underground entrance for the car park.
